Kim Klein, CPHIMS- President
Kim is a Healthcare Information Technology professional with over 20 years of experience working in the healthcare industry in both the public and private sectors. Kim’s areas of expertise include health IT strategic planning, HIPAA Privacy and Security, and EHR implementations and program management. In the private sector, she has worked in various provider environments including physician practices, hospitals, multi-specialty clinics, integrated delivery networks and academic medical centers across the U.S.
In the public sector, Kim has worked with federal agencies in the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), and the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). At the state level, she has served as the Privacy and Security Coordinator for DC’s Regional Extension Center (REC), eHealthDC.org.
Kim is a Senior Member of HIMSS and served on the Board of Directors for the HIMSS – National Capital Area Chapter from 2006 to 2011. She has also served on many national and local committees including the HIMSS EHR Implementation Task Force, the HL7 Public Health SIG, the X12N subcommittee, the Northern Virginia Technology Council, the Northern Virginia RHIO, and HealthTechNet in Washington, DC.
Kim has many publications and presented to organizations including the MedInfo Congress, AMGA, MGMA, the NoVA RHIO, HIMSS (New England Chapter Public Policy Forum), ISACA, George Washington University and co-authored a book entitled, “Guide to the Electronic Medical Practice”.
